It came down to two overtimes in a shootout between Midland Legacy (10-2, 4-1) and the Euless Trinity Trojans (7-5, 5-2), but the Rebels are heading to the Class 6A Division 1 regional finals after a 57-55 nail biter won on a two-point conversion pass from Marcos Davila to Jordan Williams.

University of Texas Permian Basin learns playoff fate, draws Bemidji State in first round

Fresh from capturing the first Lone Star Conference championship in program history, the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) Falcons football team will open the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II playoffs with a first-round matchup against the Bemidji State University (BSU) Beavers. UTPB said on Facebook that the Falcons will host the Beavers at Astound Stadium in Midland on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.

Midland Christian (4-6, 2-2) had a one point lead late in the fourth quarter in the bi-district game of the TAPPS Division II tournament, but Grace Community (9-1, 2-1) was able to find the end zone on a 40-yard Grant Turner touchdown run to send the Mustangs packing in a 33-28 win for the Cougars.

Midland Legacy running back Damien Johnson got the scoring going early and often against Montwood, with three first quarter touchdowns in a 64-19 blowout win to be named Class 6A, Region 1 bi-district champions and move on in the state tournament.
