At Stake: Midland Legacy is riding a three game winning streak and look use this momentum with the playoffs beginning.

What to watch: Midland Legacy is coming off a 32-21 win over the Odessa Bronchos, which not only gave them a district title but also knocked Odessa out of playoff contention. Now they face Montwood in the bi-district round of the Conference 6A District 1 playoffs.

Leading a 253 yard passing attack was the duo of Tommy Johnson III and Madden Milloy. Johnson had 22 carries for 137 yards and Milloy had 11 carries for 104 yards. Both running backs found the end zone in the win.

Watch for Marcos Davila, who had an excellent regular as the Rebel signal caller. Last week he was 20-for-25 for 222 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Aiden Serrano caught five passes for 40 yards and a score. The other touchdown went to Caden Ellis from 14 yards out. Brex Stephens is another receiver that could be a difference maker, coming off a week with five catches for 78 yards.

On defense look out for Gilbert Hernandez and Max Vera, who are the two leaders in tackles for the Rebels. Hernandez had a sack in last week’s win and Vera picked off a pass in the end zone.

The Rebels are outscoring opponents 457-315 this season.

Montwood is coming off a 26-21 loss to Coronado to end the season with a .500 record. They have lost three of their last four games and look to turn things around with the tournament underway.

The Rams are a pass-heavy team that relies on a solid senior group. Last week senior QB Michael Southern threw for three touchdowns, but his accuracy needs some work as he was 12-for-24 with four picks. He threw for 223 yards.

On the season, however, Southern has been on point throwing for just under 70% with 2,311 yards, 24 touchdowns and four interceptions. The Rams are looking for him to return to form with their top tier receiving core led by fellow seniors Diego Oaxaca, Gio Varela and Kaleb Alvarez.

Oaxaca has 75 catches for 783 yards and eight touchdowns this year. Varela has 330 catches for 600 yards and three scores. Alvarez has 42 catches for 449 yards and a team high 10 touchdowns.

Last week top receiver was Varela, who caught six passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Oaxaca hauled in three catches for 56 yards and a score.
