Coach Angalyn Latin, Director of Athletics at Texas Leadership Charter Academy (TLCA), provided an update on programs under her watch. With a focus on athletic and personal growth, Latin is guiding TLCA’s sports program through a rebuilding phase, and is helping shape the future of the school’s athletes.
She says the Academy has, "had lots of changes over the years, so we are starting fresh."
According to Latin:
- TLCA's cross-country team won the state title in the 2023-2024 season with many returning athletes.
- The volleyball team is performing well and winning games.
- The softball team is coming off a championship with key returning players, while the baseball team finished second in the championship series.
- The football team, consisting mainly of Freshmen and one Senior, is working to improve.
Now in her fourth year at TLCA, Latin briefly left before returning to her current position. She emphasizes "building kids for the future of the sports program and for their lives."
Latin attended high school in Houston and earned a degree in education and kinesiology from Sul Ross State University. She holds a master's degree in sports administration.
