Captains of Bulldogs’ football team look to continue playoff success against Crowley

The Midland Bulldogs secured a decisive 42-14 playoff victory against El Paso Pebble Hills, led by the team's captains.

Quarterback Stroman Bridges celebrated the win on social media platform X. He wrote: "Great first round team win with a great group a Co-captains. Every captain scored a touchdown even the defensive one. @Elijah_Mccoy2 @BladeBrandon22 @AnthonyKolb_4 @Coach_Fortune."

The game also marked a significant milestone for running back Elijah McCoy, who led the team's rushing efforts with 232 yards. This performance set a new season record for the Bulldogs with 2,074 yards, surpassing Dave Wafford's previous record of 1,990 yards set in 1936. McCoy expressed his achievement on X: "I am now the single season rushing yard record holder @midlandhighfb."

According to MaxPreps, Bridges carried the ball 18 times for 104 yards and scored two touchdowns while also throwing a 33-yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs (8-3) are scheduled to face the Crowley Eagles (7-4), who defeated the Northwest Texans 51-14, on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium.
