West Texas FC (WTXFC) has announced the signing of Chilean midfielder Marcel Duffau, as revealed in an April 4 Facebook post.

According to the announcement, Duffau, originally from Santiago, Chile, played for Universidad Católica during his youth before moving to the United States. He subsequently enrolled at Mercy University in New York and joined its men's soccer team, which competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II.

The club said that Duffau accumulated over 1,100 minutes on the field for the Mavericks and contributed to a 9-3-5 record and a top 20 national ranking throughout the season. For his performance, he was named to the All-East Coast Conference (ECC) First Team. Duffau later transferred to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania.

West Texas FC will enter its third season in 2025 as the defending Lone Star Conference champions. The team is scheduled to start its campaign on May 17 with an away game against Fort Worth Vaqueros and will host its home opener against Oklahoma United FC at Astound Broadband Stadium on May 25.
