Permian falls 63-10 to North Crowley in state tournament

North Crowley (12-0, 7-0) jumped out to a 21-3 lead over Permian (7-5, 3-2) in the Conference 6A Division 1 area round game and never looked back, blowing out the Panthers 63-10 with QB Chris Jimerson throwing four touchdowns and running for two.

Permian fumbled in the first quarter and with about five minutes to go in the first quarter, Jimerson connected with Dekoryian West-Davis for a 21-yard touchdown. Anthony Pope’s kick put North Crowley up 7-0.

With eight minutes left in the first half, Permian got on the board with a field goal by Jacob Franco to make it a 7-3 game. About a minute later Jimerson took it in for a 15-yard rushing touchdown, and Pope made the extra point to go up 14-3. With three minutes left in the half, North Crowley had the ball at their own 25-yard line. Jimerson hit West-Davis with a long pass to get them down to the Permian two-yard line. Jimerson scored on another rushing touchdown, and Pope hit the extra point to go up 21-3 at the half.

North Crowley got the ball in the second half at their own 35-yard line, marched down the field and scored on an 18-yard run by Ashton Searl. The extra point was good and it was a 28-3 lead for North Crowley. They extended the lead with six minutes left in the third on another Jimerson pass to West-Davis, this time for a 35-yard score. Pope’s extra point was good and it was a 35-3 lead for North Crowley.

Permian fumbled on the next possession and it was recovered by Aaron Bradshaw at the Permian 27-yard line. With five minutes to go in the third quarter, Jimerson hit Mason Ferguson for a 17-yard touchdown pass, and Pope’s kick put them up 42-3. With two minutes left in the third quarter, Jimerson found Ferguson again for a three-yard touchdown pass, and Pope made it 49-3.

Permian was able to get on the board at the end of the third quarter. Quarterback Jakob Garcia tossed it to Isaac Herrera who found Gage Murphy wide open for a touchdown pass with 22 seconds left.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, West-Davis took it in for a 35-yard touchdown and Pope’s kick put them up 56-10. Permian recovered a fumble soon after, but they were forced to punt, negating the late game chance for more points. With about two minutes to go in the game, Kiante Ingram scored on a 22-yard rushing touchdown to put the nail in the coffin.

Juzstyce Lara tallied 75 rushing yards on 25 carries. Herrera had three carries for 53 yards. 

Jakob Garcia was 10-for-13 passing for 48 yards. Herrera was 1-for-2 with a 49-yard touchdown pass. Welton caught four passes for 41 yards and Murphy caught two passes for 59 yards and a score.

Permian had 153 rushing yards and 97 passing yards, and gave up 270 rushing yards and 205 passing yards. North Crowley had a 27-12 first down advantage and a 2-1 advantage in turnovers.
