Midland College has appointed Shelly Haney as the Executive Director for Recruitment, Retention, and Transfer in the Education Department. This new role is designed to strengthen the pathway to teacher certification. Haney will lead efforts to develop a student-focused pathway from dual credit courses to teaching positions with Midland Independent School District.
Shelly Haney brings over 20 years of experience as a math teacher, coach, and administrator with MISD. Most recently, she served as Chief of Schools for a local charter school network. She expressed enthusiasm about her new position: "I am so excited to join the MC team! I look forward to working with local high school and college students as they prepare to achieve their dreams of developing the minds of tomorrow’s leaders.”
Haney's appointment aligns with Midland College's strategic focus on student success and strengthening partnerships with educational institutions. The college aims to enhance students' awareness of opportunities in teaching through access to qualified faculty, early advising, scholarships, and a clear academic plan.

Shelly Haney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University and a Master’s degree in School Leadership from the University of Texas Permian Basin. Her credentials include various leadership programs such as Region 18 Superintendent Certification and Rice University's Executive Education Academy.
In her personal time, Shelly enjoys watching sports at Texas Tech, spending time with family and friends, cooking, traveling, and caring for her pets.
