Midland Legacy's Johnson scores 5 TDs in 66-24 win over San Angelo Central

It was a monster day for senior running back Damien Johnson, who went off for five rushing touchdowns to lead the Midland Legacy Rebels (6-2, 2-1) to a 66-24 win over the San Angelo Central Bobcats (1-7, 0-3).

San Angelo Central led 10-6 in the first quarter highlighted by a Christian English five-yard touchdown run, and were up 18-6 in the second quarter, but the lead wouldn’t last long as the Rebels piled on the scoring in the win.

The Rebels had a rushing attack where they had 435 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, averaging 10.1 yards per carry. This was led by Johnson, with the star senior running for 186 yards on 27 carries with five scores. Jaden Rogers had four carries for 132 yards and a touchdown that went for 70 yards. Tommy Johnson III ran seven times for 52 yards and a touchdown. Madden Milloy added two carries for four yards and a touchdown, while Zyquwan Young had two carries for 56 yards, including one that went for 55-yards.

Marcos Davila was 17-for-24 for 257 yards and a touchdown. He also had a five-yard run. His favorite receivers were Aiden Serrano (five catches, 49 yards) and Caden Ellis (four catches, 83 yards, one touchdown).

On defense, Trace Low led the way with 11 tackles and three for a loss. He also had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Gilbert Hernandez had nine tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. Alexis Chavez also forced a fumble. Cole Neatherlin and Max Hale recovered fumbles, with Neatherlin adding eight tackles. ‘

Jason Maltos was 9-for-9 on extra points and 1-for-1 on field goal attempts.

San Angelo Central was led by English, who was 29-for-51 for 266 yards and a touchdown. He also ran seven times for 24 yards and two scores. Alex Lindsay caught his touchdown and had three catches for 65 yards. Colton Hill tallied six catches for 83 yards.
