A former Midland Independent School District (MISD) student is establishing her career as the Washington State Director of Energy Resilience and Emergency Management.
According to a Facebook post from MISD, Elizabeth King, a Legacy High School graduate, addressed the Washington State Senate this week regarding a bill she requested to protect critical energy infrastructure information. After graduating, the district noted that "she completed a degree in Communications and Business, then earned a master’s in healthcare administration with a focus on emergency preparedness."
King's LinkedIn profile states that she oversees energy emergency operations, resilience and mitigation planning, and energy cybersecurity for petroleum, electricity, natural gas, and alternative fuels. During an energy supply shortage, she coordinates restoration priorities with the government, energy sector partners, neighboring states, the governor’s office, and the Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Supply and Conservation.
Her profile also indicates that she is an instructor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute and serves as the president for the International Association of Emergency Managers in Region 10. This region includes Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.
