At its recent meeting, the Midland Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees held a public hearing regarding its 2023-24 annual performance.
According to a district news release, a hearing is required by the Texas Education Code, with results listed on the Texas Education Agency. The six components that make up the 2023-24 annual performance report and were reported were district accreditation status, campus performance objectives, violent or criminal incidents, student performance at postsecondary institutions, the 2023-24 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), and PEIMS Financial Standard Report.
The Texas Annual Performance Report noted that the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) performance rate for all subjects and performance levels was 69 percent at grade level or above. That percentage was also reflected in reading at 69 percent at grade level, mathematics at 68 percent at grade level, science at 71 percent at grade level, and social studies at 70 percent at grade level.
According to the news release, TAPR lists the key components of the district's annual performance report. The data collects a wide range of information on student performance disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The report also provides information on school staff, programs provided, and student demographics.
