The City of Midland acknowledged the Midland Christian School (MCS) Mustangs girls basketball team's achievement in winning the 2025 Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 5A state championship. This recognition was made public through a Facebook post on March 29.
In February, the Lady Mustangs secured their victory over Legacy Prep with a score of 64-53, marking the program's first state title since 1992. According to the city, this triumph concluded MCS's season with an impressive record of 30 wins and seven losses. "Congratulations to these incredible athletes on bringing home the 5A state crown — the program’s second-ever championship," said the city's post. Mayor Lori Blong also expressed her congratulations to the team in a separate Facebook post following their victory.
Midland Times reported that several Lady Mustangs players were recognized on the All-District team. The honorees include First Team selection Jordyn Hamilton; Second Team selections McKenzie Ramirez and Haleigh Cook; along with Honorable Mentions Amara Odokwu and Mallory West. Additionally, coaches Ashley Brinker, Emma Thompson, and Katie Osborn were acknowledged as the coaching staff of the year.
