Midland College (MC) has announced its commitment to supplying the area's energy industry with a skilled workforce, as said in a recent Facebook post.

"The demand for skilled workers in the Permian Basin's energy sector is rising, and Midland College is committed to providing world-class technical training to meet that demand," wrote MC. The institution expressed readiness to usher in the next generation of workers to sustain the region’s energy industry.

According to the college's website, students interested in applied technology can enroll in various programs including automotive, diesel, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), collision repair, welding, computer information technology, and energy competitions. The Advanced Technology Center is located at 3200 West Cuthbert Avenue.

"We have an energy sector that's prominent in the Permian Basin, which means that energy demand is going up and up and up," said Erick Gutierrez, MC’s Department Chair of Applied Technology. "There is a need for a skilled workforce, and we are doing our absolute best to meet that need by providing an education for students to build a skill set to go out and get some of those high-paying, high-demand jobs."
