The newest group of high school seniors aspiring to become developing technologists has been introduced as Midland College’s latest cohort of Applied Technology Ambassadors.

According to a news release, these students have committed to advancing their education in applied technology. They will lead efforts to network with industry professionals, prospective students, and the community while representing multiple career academies. To be selected, students must be seniors enrolled in an MC Career Academy, maintain good academic standing, secure a recommendation from an instructor or industry representative, and commit to a one-year term spanning their senior spring semester, summer, and first fall semester at Midland College.

The news release also lists the new Applied Technology Ambassadors: Homero Hernandez and Raul Garcia from Midland High School are studying diesel technology; David Olevera from Midland High School and Haeden Wingrove from Greenwood High School are studying automotive technology; Princess Olivas and Frannevic Alcala from Midland High School, along with Elyse Alvarez from Legacy High School, are studying energy.

Erick Gutierrez, the department chair of Applied Technology at the college, said that the students' commitment to their careers will impact the workforce and economy surrounding Midland. "By developing their skills now, they are helping to shape the future of local industries, ensuring that our region remains strong, innovative, and competitive," he added.
