The Midland RockHounds have expressed gratitude to former public address announcer Wes Coles for his years of service with the Double-A Minor League Baseball (MiLB) affiliate.
According to a February 13 Facebook post by the RockHounds, Coles had been announcing games at Momentum Bank Ballpark since 2007. He has recently retired from his position.
The RockHounds emphasized that Coles holds a significant place in the community. "We will miss him very much," the team said in their post. "The RockHounds thank you for your time here and wish you the best of luck!"
The upcoming 2025 season will mark the franchise's 53rd year. According to a previous team-issued press release, Midland achieved an all-time franchise record of 84 games and won the Texas League’s South Division in 2024. The opening game against Arkansas will be notable as it will be the first time in seven years that the RockHounds start their season at home.
