Former RockHounds trainer receives promotion within A’s organization

A former athletic trainer for the Midland RockHounds has been appointed to the Athletics player development staff for 2025.

A Major League Baseball press release states that Nick Voelker will serve as the A’s minor league medical coordinator. He has spent eight seasons with the A’s organization, including a tenure as head athletic trainer for the RockHounds in 2022 and the last two seasons as a Latin American Medical Coordinator. Voelker began his career in the Dominican Summer League, where he was named Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2018 before moving to rookie-level Arizona in 2021.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Voelker holds a Master of Science degree in kinesiology and exercise science from the University of Central Florida. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Indianapolis.

According to the news release, the A’s major league team is scheduled to play its home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento for the 2025–2027 seasons before relocating to the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
