Justin Greene, an offensive lineman from Permian High School, officially signed to play football for the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB). A signing event was held on Feb. 5, where Greene celebrated with friends and family.
“Signing in general for me was very important and was one of the dreams I’ve had since I was a little kid,” Greene told Midland Times. “Signing with UTPB was a great honor and blessing, being able to be a part of my mom’s alma mater and finishing up what my dad started."
Greene cited trust in the coaching staff as a key factor in his decision to join UTPB.
“What made me choose UTPB over others for me was trust,” he said. “I really trust Coach Region, Coach Crayton, and Coach McCullough. They know no matter what, I’ll go out there and give it my all, and I can trust them with taking care of me."
When asked about significant influences in his football career, Greene credited his father who provided guidance and support throughout his development as an athlete.
“My dad pushed me day in and out, no matter how hot or cold it was he always wanted to push me,” Greene said. “Growing up looking up to my dad’s legacy was the thing I wanted to do as a kid. Knowing that he won three state championships and still couldn’t play ball made me work harder than everyone around me."
Greene also emphasized the role of faith in his achievement. “The Lord allowed me to get where I am,” he said.
