The Midland Council of Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) has experienced significant growth over the past year compared to the previous school year.
"Wow! Texas PTA has named Midland ISD Council of PTAs as one of the fastest growing councils in the state," the district announced on Facebook. "Thanks to your help, just this week they surpassed their membership goal of 6,000!! Thanks to all, and congratulations! #EngageAndAct"
According to Texas PTA, the Midland Council of PTAs recorded a 32% increase from this current school year compared to the previous one. This percentage growth ranks as the third highest in Texas. The current membership stands at 6,007 members, up from 4,551 members during the 2023-24 school year.
Midland ISD Council of PTAs noted that positive developments are occurring within the school district. "A HUGE THANK YOU to Sarah Collins, Council Membership VP, and to each of our 36 Local Membership VPs for their leadership and dedication to inviting parents, teachers, and community members to join our PTAs," they said in a Facebook post. "We also want to THANK our Midland ISD community for being a PTA member!" On December 10, they reported being just 25 individuals short of surpassing the 6,000 membership mark.
Texas PTA emphasized that supporting local PTAs is essential for building strong school communities that advocate for students' potential. The organization expressed hope that continued growth would enhance "our voice and our ability to make an impact."
