Midland Independent School District is organizing a seminar aimed at educating student-athletes and their parents about the recruitment process for university athletic scholarships.
"This will be an outstanding opportunity to learn valuable information about the processes and ask questions," Midland Legacy High School said in a Facebook post. The event is scheduled to take place at the Bowie Fine Arts Auditorium on Wednesday, November 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All district athletes and their families are invited to attend.
According to the post, interested participants are requested to fill out a Google form with details such as their grade level, school, and the number of family members attending. The seminar will cover various aspects of the recruitment process, including developing an athletic portfolio, the impact of social media on recruiting, the role of parents during recruitment, and communication with coaches.
Dave Campbell’s Texas Football reported that college coaches are increasingly interested in athletes who can play multiple sports, especially in football. "Forget skillset. Naturally, we’re there because (of) their size, length, speed, whatever. But is he a competitive human being? What I mean by being competitive is does he play multiple sports? I think that matters," University of Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian told the outlet.
