Midland College has introduced a new program for the fall 2024 semester aimed at supporting GED graduates. The initiative offers their first college course free of charge, targeting residents within the college's service area who have completed a GED program either through Midland College or another entity and have not previously pursued college coursework.

The primary objective of this initiative is to boost enrollment in postsecondary education and training while assisting students in completing certificates and credit or transfer courses. By eliminating financial obstacles, Midland College hopes to motivate more GED graduates to further their education.

Deeksha Kadian, Director of Adult Education and Literacy at Midland College, emphasized the positive impact of this program. "This initiative is not just about providing free tuition; it's about investing in the future of our community," said Kadian. "We believe that by supporting GED graduates in their transition to college, we can help them achieve their academic and career goals, ultimately contributing to the economic development of our region."

GED graduates interested in this opportunity are encouraged to reach out to Abigail Phillips at (432) 685-4501 or via email at welcome@midland.edu for details on enrollment procedures and available courses.

The initiative aligns with Midland College's strategic framework "Honor the Past, Reimagine the Future," focusing on increasing student recruitment and serving more community members through various educational programs.

Midland College provides numerous programs and options for students. Those seeking information are advised to visit the Welcome Center for general inquiries.
