Midland College has announced the appointment of Olivia "Liv" Garza as the new assistant coach for the Lady Chaps softball team. Garza brings with her a solid background in collegiate softball, having experience both as a player and a coach. She is set to contribute her expertise and enthusiasm to the team for the upcoming season.

Previously, Garza was part of the Coastal Bend College softball program, where she worked as a part-time assistant coach. A native of Pearsall, Texas, she excelled in athletics during her high school years. After completing her education at Pearsall High School, she played college-level softball at Laredo Community College and later at the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV). In 2024, Garza earned her Bachelor of Education degree from UHV.

"I am beyond excited to join the Midland College Lady Chaps and help lead this talented group of athletes," said Garza. "I’m looking forward to working with the team and learning so much from Coach Castro, and I believe we have the skills and dedication to make this a successful season."

Head Coach Angelica Castro shared her excitement about Garza joining the coaching staff: "Olivia brings a work ethic like I’ve rarely seen. Her passion for and knowledge of the game, coupled with her playing and coaching experience and her ability to connect with our players, make her a perfect fit for our program. I am confident she will help us elevate our game on and off the field."

As Midland College prepares for an exciting season ahead, they express their enthusiasm about having Garza on board.
