Midland Independent School District (MISD) Trustee Sara Burleson has been selected to represent the Permian Basin public school district as part of the 2025 Leadership Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Cohort. Burleson is among the 34 school board members named by TASB to participate in this year’s cohort at txEDCON24 in San Antonio next month.

According to an August 16 Facebook post by MISD, Burleson said that it is an honor to be chosen for the cohort.

"I feel it is my responsibility as a trustee to be informed, challenged, and inspired to continue to learn how to best lead Midland schools to greater heights," Burleson, a former teacher, said.

The post mentioned that Burleson will have the opportunity to engage with fellow board members from across the state, share her insights, and gain new perspectives on effective school governance as a member of the cohort for a year.

An August 12 press release issued by TASB stated that the cohort is based on recommendations by a committee of Leadership TASB alumni, with the selections presented to the Member Services Committee of the TASB Board for approval during its July meeting.

Leadership TASB was established in 1993.
