The Midland Education Foundation (MEF) will relaunch the Partners in Education Program. Previously launched and managed by the Midland Chamber of Commerce, the Partners in Education Program aims to connect businesses with local schools to enhance educational outcomes through mentorship, volunteering, and resource-sharing.
“Many programs in our community trace their roots to the Midland Chamber, throughout our 100-year history,” said Evan Thomas, President and CEO of the Midland Chamber of Commerce. “In that tradition, we are proud to hand the reins of Partners in Education to an organization that can build on the foundation that has been laid and take it to new heights.”
The MEF focuses on promoting education by generating and distributing additional resources for Midland ISD students and employees. Since its establishment in 2007, the foundation has supported the district through various initiatives, including grant opportunities for classroom and campus needs, professional development scholarships, and the Shining Stars scholarship and breakfast celebration for the district's top students.
“Partners in Education brings the community into Midland ISD,” said MEF Community Connections Coordinator Lauren Hopkins. “We’re honored to add this program to our work. The Education Foundation team and their board have served as a longstanding and trusted nonprofit supporting public school for many years. We look forward to connecting businesses and organizations to these hardworking campuses that could greatly benefit from an outside commitment.”
The relaunch offers local businesses the opportunity to directly partner with schools, providing resources, mentorship, and career readiness experiences.
The MEF is calling on businesses, educators, and community members interested in participating in the Partners in Education Program to reach out for more information.
