The Midland Independent School District (MISD) is offering senior citizens free admission to its athletic events throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. Seniors aged 65 and older can now pick up annual season passes from the district’s athletics office at the central office located at 615 W. Missouri Ave. during business hours.
According to a July 11 press release attributed to MISD, Gold Card holders will be able to enter all regular season athletic events at MISD facilities free of charge.
While varsity football matchups are included, the pass is not honored at playoff games or tournaments.
The release stated that individuals with Gold Cards from previous years are required to obtain a new card, which must be subsequently renewed annually.
MISD Executive Director of Athletics Wes Torres said in the release that the district is excited about offering this benefit to the senior community and promised that the updated renewal process will help his office better serve senior citizens.
