A small plane crash at the Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF) on the afternoon of June 29 prompted the attention of the Midland Fire Department (MFD). The incident occurred just before 5 p.m.

According to a press release issued by the city of Midland, the aircraft in question carried two individuals at the time of the crash, which authorities pinned at 4:57 p.m. The plane executed a belly landing, the release said.

Permian Basin NBC affiliate KWES News reported that those onboard sustained no injuries. The runway where the incident took place remains closed until the plane is removed.

However, MAF’s operations were unaffected, according to the release. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is slated to conduct an investigation starting July 1.

As stated on its website, MAF ranks eighth among primary commercial service airports in Texas. The airport is owned and operated by the city of Midland and offers more than 20 daily departures to several major airports including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Houston William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), and Denver International Airport (DEN).
