The Midland Fire Department (MFD) recently reported on its annual breakfast event, which brings together the department's chiefs and captains. This information was shared in a Facebook post.
According to the March 28 post by MFD, the meeting serves as an opportunity for chiefs and captains to discuss successes and identify areas needing improvement. The fire department also shared a video summarizing the event.
Interim Fire Chief Mike Tully explained that the breakfast provides a platform for captains to share their perspectives. "It’s an environment where [they] speak freely," Tully said. "No rank in the room. [We] want them to get what they want to say out without fear of reprisal."
Tully further noted that the captains are "the guys on the streets" who engage with the public regularly. "[We] want to make sure we’re still in line with where we think we should be," he said.
According to the city's website, MFD employs over 250 personnel, operates 11 stations, and offers fire protection and emergency medical services, among other services, to both citizens and visitors of Midland city and county.
