Miss Texas 2024, Ellie Breaux, recently engaged with numerous students from Midland ISD, according to a post by the district. During her visit to three campuses, Breaux emphasized the significance of education.

"MISD was excited to host Ellie Breaux, Miss Texas 2024! This week, Miss Texas visited three of our campuses and talked about the importance of literacy and education," said ISD.

Breaux's LinkedIn profile reveals that she graduated from the University of North Texas (UNT) in May 2023 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a focus on fashion design. In addition to her academic pursuits, Breaux served as a personal shopper for an H-E-B in Missouri City during the pandemic and worked as a lifeguard for four years while attending college.

A news release from UNT indicates that Breaux, who hails from Houston, attributes her ability to communicate with diverse groups of people to her upbringing in a multicultural region. Furthermore, she joins a lineage of UNT students who have won prestigious beauty pageants, including Phyllis George (Miss America 1971), Shirley Cothran Barret (Miss America 1975), and R'Bonney Gabriel (Miss Universe 2023).

Speaking about her experience at the Miss America contest where she placed second to Madison Marsh in January, Breaux told CBS News: "It was a win-win. You're either going to be Miss America or you're going to be the first runner-up to Miss America and they can call you at any moment. It was surreal standing there and being in the top two. That hasn't happened for Texas since 2007."
