Two new hires were announced by the Midland Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees during their recent meeting.

The board announced that Roy Garcia is now the district’s chief of human capital, while Griselda Rosales will be the new principal at Parker Elementary.

According to a board recap of the meeting proceedings, Garcia has over 30 years of educational experience dating back to 1992 when he was a teacher and coach. The district noted that his mix of leadership in and out of the classroom was a caveat to him leading the Human Capital department. For seven years, Garcia taught junior high math before taking on roles within the administration department at several high schools and junior highs. He has also served as principal at the secondary level and as assistant superintendent for secondary schools.

Rosales has impressive credentials herself, according to the board recap. Last year, she garnered the MISD Assistant Principal of the Year award and "brings a proven focus on student achievement and instructional excellence to campus as an administrator." The district noted that her leadership and instructional dynamics will help her continue to be successful at Parker.
