Midland ISD has announced the appointment of Maxine Gonzales as the Region 18 President for the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) for the 2023-24 academic year. This role is pivotal in shaping school leadership strategies across the state. In her capacity as president, Ms. Gonzales will represent not only Midland ISD but also all of Region 18, articulating the challenges and needs of districts in West Texas.
In her new role within TEPSA, Ms. Gonzales will leverage her experience as a data-driven decision-maker to foster accountability throughout the state. Her hands-on approach and ability to drive transformation are expected to bring fresh perspectives to TEPSA's initiatives.
Ms. Gonzales currently serves as the principal at Henderson Elementary. She began her teaching career in Lamesa, her hometown, before joining Midland ISD in 2016. As a teacher and instructional coach, she developed several professional training programs for teachers aimed at creating environments conducive to learning.
During her tenure at MISD, Ms. Gonzales participated in the Aspiring Principals Academy and the Superintendent Internship program. Recognizing her leadership skills, she was promoted to the role of principal with the opportunity to manage her own campus.
"My years in education have shown me the incredible potential of our students and educators," said Gonzales. "I am honored to serve in this role and serve the families and students of MISD."
TEPSA boasts a membership of more than 6,000 PK-8 educators from across Texas.
