Midland ISD encourages residents to participate in online design survey | Midland ISD

Midland Independent School District (MISD) is seeking community participation in a survey created to gather resident insights for the development of new high schools. According to the survey’s description, the survey aims to serve as a source of inspiration for the design team by enriching the concepts that will shape the educational landscape of the upcoming campuses.

"From the beginning of this process, it has always been the goal of MISD to have the community be involved in the decision-making surrounding this bond and these new campuses,” Public Information Officer Lyndsey White told Midland Times in an emailed statement. “This survey is a part of that process."

The survey is crafted to accommodate various perspectives, with the initial question focusing on an individual's affiliation with MISD and the high schools. Subsequent questions are tailored based on the respondent's previous answers to ensure a personalized survey.

"In a town of our size, high schools are often a focal point of social life in terms of athletics, fine arts, and other community events,” said White. “Knowing this, we believe that these two new high schools can be a point of pride for everyone in the city."

When questioned about the elements of high school design open to community input, White said, "Really, anything's on the table, but specifically our design teams, including architects and project managers, are focusing on the types of spaces utilized throughout the campuses and how these will serve students and education well into the future. For example, we are anticipating many spaces will be multi-use."
