Diamondback Energy, in partnership with Midland Independent School District (MISD), has introduced The Diamondback STEM lab powered by IstoVisio Inc. (SyGlass) at Legacy High School. This initiative provides students in anatomy and physiology classes with a new learning experience through a virtual reality platform and connects them with professors from universities across the nation.
In a surprise gesture, Legacy High School scholars partnered with the video production class to express their gratitude to Diamondback Energy for the transformative opportunity by creating a video montage of students expressing their appreciation for the SyGlass technology.
"I like SyGlass because it’s way more entertaining,” said Amaya Morris, a student at Legacy High School, in the video created to thank Diamondback Energy. “I’m not really a paper and pencil type of person, so using VR is way more engaging, and it really makes me want to actually do the school work. I love how you can actually see, zoom in, cut things open, and look at everything."
According to the video, the STEM lab facilitates a space where professors not only teach content but also contribute live data sets, enabling students to support ongoing research at universities.
This opportunity exposes students to careers in STEM fields. Students in the master’s program gain access to experiences previously available only to those in anatomy and physiology classes.
"Diamondback Energy is honored to support our Legacy High School scholars and grateful for this opportunity to bring our STEM lab to their campus,” said Diamondback Energy in a LinkedIn post. “This lab could not be possible without others who invest in the community, believe in innovation, and DREAM BIG!"
