Midland High School's theatre program continues to shine as Junior Madison Coleman secures the Texas Theatre Scholar Award for the 2023-24 school year, as announced by the Texas Thespians.
According to a release from Midland Independent School District (MISD), earning this designation involved Madison navigating a rigorous application process, showcasing not only her active involvement in the MHS Theatre department but also a commendable record of academic excellence.
"Receiving the Texas Theatre Scholar Award is truly an honor," said Madison Coleman in the release. "I am grateful for the support of my teachers, fellow students, and MHS theatre community."
Madison's theatrical journey commenced when she joined the stage crew during her freshman year. Transitioning to acting in her sophomore year, she contributed to the UIL One Act Play state championship-winning team last spring. Beyond acting, Madison participates in the costume crew and props department.
"Madison's dedication to her craft and her commitment to excellence are inspiring for our entire program," said Midland High School Theatre Director Tiffany Gardner-Moore in the release. "She embodies the spirit of our theatre, and I am immensely proud of her accomplishments."
Madison's recognition not only reflects her outstanding achievements but also enhances the reputation of the entire theatre department. This award brings notoriety and prestige to the program, potentially opening doors for future scholarships and opportunities for the talented students within the Midland High School theatre community.
