Midland Animal Services has recently appointed a part-time veterinarian, who is expected to commence work in the forthcoming weeks. The newly hired professional will primarily be on duty on Thursdays and Saturdays.
According to a City of Midland press release, the Animal Services Advisory Commission was informed about this new appointment on Monday by Animal Services Director Melissa Griffin-Hobson.
The City of Midland press release further stated that the part-time vet's primary responsibility would be to spay and neuter any animal that gets adopted. "This will enable the city to send out animals that won't contribute to the population issue," said Griffin-Hobson.
In addition to this, according to another City of Midland press release, the new hire will also tend to animals at the Midland Animal Shelter, opting for treatment over euthanasia. The city continues its search for a full-time veterinarian.
