Motorcyclist seriously injured when struck by SUV near Air and Space Port

A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries after being hit by an SUV near Midland International Air and Space Port on Thursday evening, as reported by the Midland Police Department.

According to a news release from the Midland Police Department, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred when a Hyundai Sante Fe, heading south and in the turning lane of Farm-to-Market Road 1788 near Loop 40, west of the airport, collided with a motorcyclist just before 7 p.m.

The same news release indicated that officers found that the SUV driver failed to notice a motorcyclist driving north in the outside lane of FM 1788. The driver attempted to turn his vehicle, resulting in a collision with a motorist operating a 2021 Ducati motorcycle.

As per another news release from the Midland Police Department, following the accident, the injured motorcyclist was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious bodily injuries. Meanwhile, the SUV driver was released pending further investigation.
