The Midland City Council has announced plans to award a $1.2 million contract for the installation of 8,000 linear feet of fencing as part of the Airpark North Fence Replacement Project at Midland Airpark. The total cost of the project is projected to reach $1.7 million.
According to the Midland City Council agenda for its Jan. 23 meeting, three bids were submitted for the project. Delta Specialty Contracts emerged as the low bidder with a proposal of $1.2 million, while Construction Rent-A-Fence and Swift Corp. submitted bids of $1.6 million and $1.79 million respectively.
Additional costs listed in the agenda include engineering fees amounting to $90,000, an administrative/resident project representative costing $145,000, and a contingency fund set at $123,390.
The council's agenda also revealed that the project will involve replacing an existing chain link fence along the north side of Midland Airpark, which is situated adjacent to Loop 250 and Garfield Street.
The new fence material will be a coated woven wire fabric that is expected to enhance the visual appearance along the 8,000 linear feet of fencing. According to the same source, a concrete mow strip will be installed beneath the fence line in order to reduce vegetation growth within the fence fabric.
