The Midland Fire Department (MFD) was called to action over the weekend as they responded to two separate incidents on Saturday, January 6, and Sunday, January 7.
The first incident occurred at approximately 9 pm on Saturday, near the intersection of County Roads 114 and 1202. Firefighters arrived to find an RV fully engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts, the vehicle was declared a total loss. There were no injuries reported, but one individual was displaced as a result of the incident. The Red Cross was notified to provide assistance for the individual affected.
Upon arrival, the fire department officials noted hearing "popping noises," though the exact cause of these sounds could not be immediately confirmed. Officials reported that the popping noises ceased within minutes.
The second incident took place on Sunday at around 10:30 am on County Road 38. Fire department officials responded to find an unoccupied structure fully involved in flames. Despite the firefighting efforts, the structure was ultimately declared a complete loss.
No injuries were reported in connection with the second fire, as the building was unoccupied at the time officials arrived on scene. The fire department officials are currently investigating the causes of both incidents.
