The Midland Bulldogs (5-0) continued their dominance on the gridiron, jumping out 21-7 and never looking back in an easy 62-14 win over El Paso Andress (1-4). The Bulldogs were led by Tristan Love and Elijah McCoy with three touchdowns each in a day where the team ran for 424 yards.
Midland led 38-7 at halftime, showing the Andress squad that their undefeated record was surely no fluke. The Bulldogs scored 10 points in the third quarter and then in the fourth quarter outscored Andress 14-7 to finish the blowout win over the Eagles.
Love ran eight times for 149 yards, which included a carry for 69 yards, and three touchdowns. Love also went 7-for-11 for 94 yards in the air. McCoy carried the ball 15 times for 123 yards, with three touchdowns. His day included a 55-yard run. Alex Gonzalez reeled in three catches for 49 yards, including a 33-yarder. Jesus Jasquez also ran the ball well with six carries for 58 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, the Bulldogs had 3.5 total sacks with Ryan Manning and Felix Campos getting to the quarter back for a sack apiece. Wyatt Krueger, Darrion Mitchell and Jeremiah Loudd each had half-a-sack. Athen Dominguez had nine tackles to lead Midland. Jacoby Dutchover, Ryder Miller and Barrett McDaniel had an interception each. Ryan Manning had two tackles, a fumble caused and recovered.
Midland has outscored opponents 217-76 this season. Next up for the Bulldogs is San Angelo Central on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. on the road.
