Coahoma High School's star softball pitcher, Hannah Wells, has recently announced her commitment to the University of Texas at Austin (UT). After leading her team to their first state championship in 25 years, Wells is thrilled to be given the opportunity to continue her softball career at the collegiate level.
Wells, who has been a part of the Coahoma Bulldogettes softball team since her freshman year, expressed her excitement about fulfilling her dream to play softball at UT. In a statement released on September 19, she shared her enthusiasm for the next chapter of her career.
Over the past two seasons, Wells has consistently showcased her talent on the field. According to reports from Odessa ABC station KMID News and FOX affiliate KPEJ News, she has helped lead her team to the Class 3A title game both years, with the most successful season resulting in a state championship victory.
Not only has Wells excelled as a pitcher, recording an impressive 239 strikeouts and a .038 earned run average (ERA) during her sophomore year, but she has also made significant contributions at the plate. With a batting average of .602, 65 hits, and 21 home runs, she has proven to be a formidable force on offense as well.
In addition to playing for Coahoma High School, Wells also competes for the Oklahoma Athletics Softball Academy in Oklahoma City. Her dedication to the sport both in and out of school has undoubtedly played a role in her success.
The Coahoma Independent School District (CISD), located just 11 miles east of Big Spring, is proud to see one of their own achieve such a significant milestone. As Wells prepares for her graduation in 2025, she undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of her as she joins the University of Texas Longhorns softball team.
