On Aug. 21, the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) announced that it is introducing a new payment plan to allow students to enroll and start attending classes for just $35 called UTPB 3. UTPB 3 seeks to alleviate the stress of payments and last-minute enrollments for incoming students.
“This new payment plan option will be a big help to a lot of students,” Dr. Becky Spurlock, UTPB’s senior vice president of student affairs and enrollment management, said in an Aug. 21 post on UTPB’s Facebook page. “I frequently hear from students that they are waiting to finalize their enrollment until they receive their next paycheck because the previous payment plan required a larger payment on enrollment. Now, students can secure the classes they need earlier and have time to plan any expenses beyond what their financial aid or scholarships will cover.”
Per UTPB, after students pay the non-refundable enrollment fee of $35, they will remit the first of three payment of 33% on the 15th of the next month. The subsequent two payments of 33% must be made on the 15th of the next two months. “UTPB 3 was created with students in mind,” the university said. “This new plan allows students to spread out their payments and enroll in courses sooner.”
Spurlock told KWES Channel 9 that UTPB has a lot of students “who are excited to be in college.” “They really work semester-to-semester to be able to afford their college experience,” she said. “And so, when we can offer things that allow students more flexibility. "It gives them piece of mind to be able to know that as hard as they are working, we're working as hard for them too."
