The Midland Dentistry for Kids confirmed plans to allocate $3,000 worth of supplies to a local Midland elementary school.
“The Midland Dentistry for Kids is looking to make sure kids have everything they need as they head back to class,” a recent YourBasin report stated.
Based in 2817-B Loop 250 Frontage Rd. Midland, TX 79705, Midland Dentistry offers dental services to children.
“So, it’s our very first year doing our Caring for Community program here in Texas,” Crystal Meza from Midland Dentistry for Kids said. “We have other offices in Mississippi, North Carolina and Louisiana as well, and we wanted to just find a way to give back to our community. We wouldn’t be here without you guys."
The dentist's office invited the public to vote from a list of local schools in need until Aug. 18. The winner will be announced on Aug. 22. Residents can learn more about the dentistry, the donation program and vote for a local school on the dentist office’s official website.
The initiative is similar to others launched in recent months, such as the school supply drive carried out by Mission Agape. The event was held in late July. The previous year, Midland Agape helped 1,100 students.
"Mission Agape launched our school supply drive program nearly a decade ago after learning from school counselors about how the needs of the families and youth we served extended beyond food security," the organization stated. "We asked ourselves, 'If families could barely afford food, how could they afford school supplies?' Now, we hold a school supply distribution event every new school year to help families with the rising cost of supplies."
