The Midland High School Football Booster Club is rallying around the family of Jaxson Kidd, a player who was hospitalized after a collision during a scrimmage earlier this month.

“Jaxson Kidd is the best of us,” the booster club said in an Aug. 14 Facebook post. “We love you, No. 13, and we are continuing to pray for you and your recovery.”

Odessa ABC affiliate KMID Channel 2 and FOX affiliate KPEJ Channel 24 report that Kidd was involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision.

Citing his family, the stations report he fell to the ground and lost feeling in his limbs for at least five seconds.

Kidd, however, came to, got up and walked around before getting back into the game, according to the report.

The teen’s family said on Facebook on Aug. 15 that he then realized he couldn’t play so he returned to the sidelines where he was seen stretching his neck, KMID and KPEJ report.

Kidd was subsequently taken to the hospital later that night.

“When Kristal and I say this, it’s not just some cliche that people might say after an accident,” the player’s father said in the post. “This is a fact: Jaxson should be paralyzed from the neck down.”

According to the Kidds, they bore witness to “truly a miracle from God.”

“Jax having function of his whole body is a gift that he will hopefully never, ever take for granted,” he said.

KMID and KPEJ report Kidd had undergone a successful surgery, with his family expressing gratitude for God’s intervention and the widespread support they’ve received.

“Jaxson is the toughest guy I have ever met in my entire life and I am so proud of how he has endured all of this,” his father said. “I would like to think that much of his toughness and dedication to overcome obstacles like this comes from what Kristal and I have taught him and from his faith in God.”
