Midland College graduate Evie Gandy has succeeded in her career in part because of her people skills, she said in an alumni profile by the college.

One of 19 children, Gandy was always around a lot of people and thrives in situations where she can help people, which made her a natural fit for customer service, she said.

Gandy began her career at The Bosworth Co. as a receptionist, where she happily worked in for more than 20 years. Two years ago, she was promoted to the position of director of first impressions/marketing/PR.

“The title director of first impressions was a new title at Bosworth,” Gandy told Midland College. “My boss wanted to convey the importance that first impressions make on customers. It suits me and fits my personality. My goal is to help people and make sure that they trust Bosworth and its subsidiaries.”

Bosworth, is an excellent company to work for and has a high employee retention rate, Gandy said. The company also prides itself in making employees feel like family.

“I was a single mother for 10 years, and Corky Bosworth was like a second father to me,” Gandy said. “Ron Ainsworth has been like a mentor to me, and I highly respect them for what I have learned throughout the years. They helped me with car repairs, home repairs and, of course, air conditioning and plumbing trouble—everything a single mom suddenly finds herself having to deal with after a divorce.”

Gandy recently graduated with an Associate of Arts degree and is working on her next degree — a bachelor’s in classical and modern languages at the University of Texas, Permian Basin.

“I’m over 50, but still feel like there is a lot of life left, and God continues to be so good to me,” Gandy said. “I am so thankful for the opportunity to go to Midland College.  Now I’m looking forward to continuing my studies at UTPB.”
