A viral video has helped a local baseball player land a commitment from Oklahoma State University.
With over 9,000 views, Lee High School baseball player Chase Shores' Twitter video of him pitching a ball that reached 88 miles per hour caught the attention of OSU's coaching staff, The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported.
“I posted a video on Twitter a couple of days back and ever since then, they’ve been calling my phone non-stop,” Shores said of the OSU coaches.
Only days after posting the video, Shores was back on Twitter to announce his commitment to play for OSU.
OSU wasn’t the only college that reached out to Shores in response to the video. He also fielded offers from Texas A&M and Texas State.
But Shores said he preferred what he saw in the OSU program.
“To be honest, the coaches and me have a really good connection,” Shores said. “The facilities at Oklahoma State are probably the best in the nation.”
