The Midland Fire Department (MFD) responded to two apartment fires within an eight-hour period on April 9.
According to a Facebook post by the MFD, firefighters were called to the 2300 block of North "A" Street at approximately 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they found that eight units were affected. Authorities said that several animals were lost or deceased and a dozen authorized tenants were displaced.
Earlier in the day, firefighters dealt with another fire in the 4700 block of Polo Parkway in north Midland, as revealed in another Facebook post from the department. The fire impacted eight units and displaced eight families, totaling 17 people.
The MFD is currently investigating both incidents.
