The City of Midland has reported that the number of passengers departing from Midland International Air & Space Port (MAF) was the second largest for the month of February.
According to a March 17 press release issued by the city, 52,217 passengers flew on either Southwest, United, American Eagle, or Delta last month. This figure represents a 2.94% decrease from the 53,797 passengers reported in February 2024.
Despite this decrease, the city noted that the number of passengers through five months of this fiscal year is 300,333, which is 5.02% ahead of last year's record pace. Among the four airlines servicing MAF, Southwest accounted for the largest share at approximately 45.3% of the February total. United followed with a share of 29.5%.
The city said that the February 2025 total indicates growth in airline passenger numbers over a longer period in Midland. The recent figure reflects a 13.8% increase from February 2019 and a significant 48.3% increase from February 2015.
City officials also highlighted an increase in parking revenue at MAF, which rose by 9.39% last month compared to the same time last year. The net parking revenue amounted to $642,951, bringing the fiscal year-to-date total to $3.53 million—a rise of 9.61% compared to the first five months of FY 2024.
