The Midland Independent School District (MISD) has been recognized for its financial management and purchasing operations. The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) awarded MISD the Award of Excellence in Financial Management and the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. MISD is one of 28 districts in Texas to receive both honors.

According to a news release from MISD, Chief Financial Officer Tucker Durham said that the awards confirm the district's commitment to transparency, accountability, and financial stewardship. "Our finance and purchasing teams work diligently to ensure responsible management of taxpayer dollars, and we are proud to be recognized for these efforts," he said.

Frontline Education sponsors the Award of Excellence in Financial Management, which was established in 2020 to honor districts with exemplary financial management practices. MISD received this recognition for the first time this year, joining 32 districts statewide. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate compliance with stringent financial guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG).
