The Midland Fire Department (MFD) successfully rescued a baby from a structure fire in the early morning hours of February 19.

According to a Facebook post by MFD, firefighters responded to the incident at the 5100 block of East County Road 71 at approximately 4:36 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that a double-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames. The homeowners informed firefighters that there was a child inside.

"The E4 crew rescued the child – an infant female," an MFD report said, according to the post. The department said that the baby is currently in critical condition.

The night before, MFD had battled another fire. A commercial structure fire broke out in the 7200 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1213 at approximately 10:23 p.m., as reported in a February 18 Facebook post. The department noted that the business appeared to be closed and no employees were present on site.
