Voters will have the opportunity to decide on Midland College's proposed $450 million bond after the board of trustees voted to include it on the ballot for the May 2025 election. This decision was made during a recent meeting.

According to a news release, the bond aims to enhance career and technical education (CTE) programs to meet the needs of the area's workforce and provide new or renovated campus facilities.

The largest project within the bond is a $277 million Advanced Technology Complex dedicated to the school's CTE programs. Other allocations include $43 million for expanding Health Science Facilities, $54 million for general renovations across the campus, $35 million for updating student housing facilities, $30 million for a new Student Services Center, and $10 million for security enhancements.

"This proposal is a direct investment in the future workforce of Midland and the Permian Basin," said Midland College President Damon Kennedy. "By expanding our CTE programs, we are equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in high-demand careers right here in our community."
