Midland Independent School District’s (MISD) Burnet and South elementary schools recently hosted author Rosie Talley, who shared her book, "Linus the Troll," with students.
According to a February 10 Facebook post from the school district, the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin and the Arts Council of Midland collaborated to facilitate Talley's donation of 50 copies of "Linus the Troll" to five elementary schools this month. MISD reported that Talley will also visit Bunche, De Zavala, and Jones elementary schools in the coming days.
Goodreads describes "Linus the Troll" as a story about the titular character and his friend Hops exploring the Isle of Huggles. It is a picture book intended for children ages two to seven and in grades K through three.
The post indicated that MISD outscores the State of Texas in kindergarten readiness, which it attributed to "the dedication and expertise of its educators fostering early literacy."
