The new Alamo Junior High School weight room itinerary is coming into focus.
According to a filing with a state regulatory agency, the 4,000 square-foot facility will be pre-engineered in a metal building. The facility will be located at the Midland Independent School District (MISD) campus at 3800 W. Storey Avenue.
Work on the $1 million project is expected to begin on March 3 and be complete by August 12, according to a February 6 filing. MISD Chief Operations Officer Cortney Smith is leading work on the project. The Lubbock-based design firm MWM Architects is part of the project team.
Alamo Middle School is one of three existing middle schools expected to see improvements and additions, along with Abell and Goddard. According to a January 2025 bond update from MISD, the design development phase for Alamo Junior High is 75% complete.
