The warm weather from the past week has transitioned to cooler temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland reported on X that Saturday's temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit on February 8 broke the previous record of 83 set in 1994. "If it feels like a broken record because of all of our broken records, then you're right," the organization wrote. "For the sixth day in a row, Midland Intl has tied or set a new record high. This should be the last one broken for a while."

According to NWS Midland, much-needed rain is possible this week as Midland County remains in a drought. "An increase in moisture finally returns to the area tonight, raising chances of drizzle and light rain showers as we approach the new work week."

The NWS forecast indicates that Sunday will see a high of 58 degrees and a low of 40, with patchy drizzle expected after 1 a.m. Monday is predicted to be drizzly before noon with a high near 55 and a low of 47, with a 47 percent chance of showers mainly after midnight. Tuesday will see a 30 percent chance of showers before noon, a 40 percent chance at night, and widespread fog in the morning, with a high near 61 and a low of 39. The chance of showers ends on Wednesday with an expected high of 64 and a low of 24. Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 49 and a low of 32, while Friday's high will reach approximately 65 with a low of 41.
